MAYOR LARRY ANTOSKIEWICZ'S UPDATE MARCH 27:

Please know that the health and welfare of our community weighs heavily on my mind and is at the forefront of every decision I make as the COVID-19 emergency evolves. The disruption of our businesses and daily lives is difficult, to say the least. Everyone has felt the impact, starting with our own families, schools, recreation and local businesses.

Remember to follow the guidelines that have been established by our various agencies. As we work our way through this, we ask that people continue to be cognizant and keep your distance from others, continue to wash your hands frequently, disinfect high-touch surfaces and stay home when you are sick.

We will get through this, but we need to all abide by the Stay-at-Home measures to return to normalcy as quickly as we can. Until then, the City is functioning and delivering essential services with the safety of employees and residents in mind. Trash and curbside recycling collections are continuing as normal. The only disruption has been in our Saturday service yard drop-off operations, which are closed until further notice. The orange bag Simple Recycling program has also been suspended.

Some residents' need for food is more pronounced these past few weeks and into the future. The North Royalton Food Bank, housed at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church, is accepting food and monetary donations. Items requested include: spaghetti noodles and sauce, canned fruit, dry cereal, oatmeal, macaroni and cheese, tuna, canned chicken, beef stew, chunky soups, saltine crackers, Jell-O or pudding, rice and complete pancake mix, as well as hygiene products. Anyone who would like to give can contact the food bank directly at 440-237-7958, ext. 200.

I also wanted to share that the filing deadline for federal income taxes has been extended from April 15 to July 15. We anticipate the state and local taxes will be extended as well.

I will try to provide regular updates as this situation evolves. Our City website has a COVID-19 link to visit pertinent information and resources for both residents and businesses. And, we update our Facebook page regularly: @City of North Royalton OH.

I would encourage you to continue to support our local restaurants and essential businesses during these challenging times. Our businesses are the backbone of our community, and we need to do all we can to help them through this.

TRAFFIC ALERT:

The Abbey Road turnpike bridge is now closed to traffic for bridge work that is being performed by the Ohio Turnpike Commission. The closure is expected to last four months. The detour is Royalton Road to West 130th Street to Sprague Road.
