Curbside Trash
Rumpke recycling cartResidents are required to supply their own trash bags or cans. Trash cans must be equipped with lifting handles and shall not exceed 36-gallon capacity. Trash bags and cans cannot exceed 50 pounds in weight when filled. Residents have the option to rent a trash cart from RUMPKE by contacting them directly at 1-800-828-8171.

Trash and recycling must be placed at the street line the evening before or by 7 a.m. on your designated service day. All emptied containers must be removed from the street line and returned to their place of storage on the same day as your designated service day. (City Code 1060.01)

Bulky Items
RUMPKE will pick up acceptable bulky items weekly on your designated service day. Residents should notify of a bulky item the day prior to their regular service day by contacting the North Royalton Service Department at 440-582-3002 by 4:30 p.m.

Examples of bulky items: appliances, TVs, carpet, furniture and large toys. All mattresses, box springs and other upholstered items must be wrapped in plastic. Carpet must be cut to 4-foot lengths, rolled and bundled. Items should not weigh more than 50 pounds. Any item longer than 4-foot and/or weighing more than 50 pounds must be broken down. All glass must be taped.

If you have large amounts of trash, you must take it to a local waste facility. Hours, prices and specifications are determined by the facility.

Consider donating gently-used furniture, mattresses and box springs, and appliances to organizations such as The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Cleveland Furniture Bank and Goodwill.

Christmas Trees
Christmas tree pickup will occur the first two weeks after the New Year’s holiday. All Christmas trees must be cut into 4-foot lengths. Please, no decorations, ornaments, tinsel, lights or bags. For those interested in recycling their trees, some local farms will accept Christmas trees as animal feed.

Curbside Recycling

In-House Recycling Items: Cans, Glass, Cartons, Paper and Boxes, Plastic Bottles Jugs and Tubs

Each residence is provided a green RUMPKE cart for recycling. Recycling is picked up on your regular trash collection day. Combine the items above in your curbside recycling container. Keep them loose, there is no need to bag them.

Items placed in curbside collection for recycling should be clean, empty and dry. Plastic bottles and jugs include items with an opening or neck narrower than the body.

What plastics should I recycle and what about those numbers? It used to be that we looked for a number surrounded by a recycling symbol to determine if a plastic container was recyclable. Now we look at the shape of container to decide if something is recyclable, making recycling plastics easier.
